Clean hotel
It has been noticed repeatedly that the hotel is very clean. There is a high standard of housekeeping here, along with a dedicated staff and management.
positive:
Great location
The hotel is close to Lake Superior. There are lake views from the upper floors (there are five). The hotel has direct access to the Lake Walk. It is also close to the Interstate I-35, convenient for arriving and leaving. The local attractions are particularly interesting, especially the historic Glensheen Mansion, which is infamous as the site of a murder mystery.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Breakfast not included
Some disappointment has been expressed that the breakfast is not included in the overnight stay tariff, which generally adds to the expense of the stay here.
negative:
Refurbishment recommended
With time, the look of the hotel has dated. Also, many of the fixtures and fittings have become worn and in need of replacement. It has been suggested that a refurbishment is required to update the property and give it back the shiny new look. It has been noted, however, that a refurbishment appears to be underway in 2015, with sections of the hotel being closed off at a time while renovations take place.
negative:
Thin walls
Television volume and even conversations from neighboring rooms have been found to be audible in the surrounding rooms, which can be disturbing for some guests.
