Ski in/out location
Guests mentioned that the position of the hotel means it is ski in/out for nearly all of the season. They certainly enjoyed the convenience this entailed, and the ability to ski or board nearly right up to the bar and terrace.
Situated in the heart of the village, close to the lifts and après ski venues, GHM Monachil offers grand chalet style accommodation and full in-house spa services. The rooms are fairly basic, but definitely contain all you’ll need to get a good night’s sleep, and freshen up as well. Each features en-suite bathroom, TV, clock radio, work desk and telephone. The wellness centre is undoubtedly the star attraction at GHM Monachil. It features a sauna, jacuzzi, massage room and also has an extensive range of treatments available. There is a spacious atrium room which is a great spot to meet friends over a drink, or challenge them to a game of pool. The Montblanc is a buffet restaurant serving all three meals, while the Cervino Restaurant is a more intimate a la carte Italian option. The ski lifts are mere steps from the hotel.

While guests certainly didn't say the hotel was Disneyland in the Sierra Nevada's, quite a few travelling with younger children mentioned that it ended up being a great choice for them. They said that there were some nice play areas and activities to keep to children occupied and entertained when they were not out on the slopes.
While guests did seem to have a few issues with their rooms, they were unanimous in saying that nearly all of them provided terrific views of the slopes and surrounding mountains.
This was a fairly common observation. Guests say that, while there really wasn't any problem with the functionality of the rooms, the décor was significantly past its sell-by date, and that a full and comprehensive refurbishment was in order.
While there were some compliments for the food, they were few and far between. For the most part, guests found the food uninspiring, at best, and inedible at worst. All meals were affected, but breakfast seemed to come in for special criticism.
It was mentioned that the hotel seems to attract a large number of ski groups, especially of high-school ages, perhaps because of its somewhat budget nature. Of course this meant that the hotel would be a bit noisy, which those seeking peace and quiet didn't appreciate.
