Positive Reviews
positive:
The location is fantastic.
Guests were thrilled with the hotel's location. It's walking distance from Notting Hill, Hyde Park, and Kensington Palace. Going to and from the hotel was easy, with two different tube stations just a short walk away. It is directly across from Whiteleys Shopping and Leisure Complex which, in addition to shopping, boasts restaurants, cinemas, and pubs. Overall, guests found that it was an excellent leaping off point for everything they wanted to do.
positive:
It's highly affordable.
Very few guests could find fault with the price they paid for their room. They found it to be a very cost-effective option, especially compared to the prices of other hotels in the area.
positive:
The breakfast is quite nice.
Though they only offer a continental breakfast, not full English, most guests very much enjoyed it. The hotel bakes their own croissants, and also has toast, tea, coffee, juice, and brioche. Guests appreciated that the breakfast was fresh and well stocked.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The customer service is lacking.
Many guests who stayed at New Dawn found the employees to be inattentive at best. They complained of the staff paying more attention to their cell phones than the guests, loudly bickering with each other and with guests, and hanging out with friends on the clock. Several people also felt that the staff were very uncommunicative, with some saying that the sum total of their conversation amounted to, “here’s your key.” They would have appreciated being informed about the breakfast times, check out time, and perhaps some information on the area.
negative:
The rooms are rather small.
Quite a few guests felt especially cramped by the accommodations. They described the rooms as tiny, with very little space to maneuver about the room. The bathrooms are particularly small. When sitting on the toilet your knees are in the shower.
negative:
Under renovation?.
Based on reviews, it’s clear that the hotel needs refurbishment in certain areas. Guests reported that some, but perhaps not all of the rooms and common areas have been recently renovated. A few had the misfortune of staying while renovations were taking place, and were bothered by the noise and general chaos.
