Boutique Resort next to the Berembun Forest Reserve The Shorea is a Boutique Eco-Resort set in the Berembun Forest Reserve, It has 8 villas with 15 rooms that accommodate up to 40 adults. It has two wings, namely The Shorea ESTATE and The Shorea RESORT. Duplex Air-conditioned Villas with Individual Pools are located at the modern Shorea Estate, while naturally ventilated wooden Villas with open view towards the Forest are located at the rustic Shorea Resort. There are altogether eight well-appointed villas with two main infinity pools spread across the two wings. Both pools are facing the verdant rain forest. A Common Dining Pavilion at the Shorea Resort provides guests with open-concept dining experience. Private dinners are enjoyed by the more secluded Estate villas. The resort’s architecture utilizes locally sourced natural materials like recycled Shorea species timber, natural slates & stones, as well as reclaimed terracotta roof tiles. These natural materials heightens the locality of the resort within the tropical rain forest. Nature Walk The Berembun forest reserve has a wide variety of animals, birds and trees. The best time to go for a walk is in the early morning or late evenings. That’s when you can spot the most variety of birds and to watch the beautiful sunrise or sunset. Among the birds most commonly spotted around here are the magpies, sun birds, pheasants and eagles. If you are lucky, you may spot the majestic hornbills during sunset when they feed. Jungle Trekking For a fee, an indigenous tribesman, also known as ‘orang asli’, from the nearby Temuan village, will bring you into the Berembun Forest Reserve. The jungle track follows the Batang Benar River, which has rejuvenating rock pools and a series of beautiful waterfalls.
