Positive Reviews
positive:
Amazing location for budget hotel
The location of the hotel, just a couple of minutes' walk from the beach, was far and away what guests most appreciated about the hotel. La Jolla is, of course, an expensive area and guests were very pleased to find a hotel with decent rooms at a decent price that was still very close to the ocean.
positive:
Spotlessly clean throughout
Whatever other small issues guests may have had with the hotel, its cleanliness was definitely not one of them. Again and again they would point out that both their room, and the entire hotel, was simply kept spotlessly clean throughout their stay.
positive:
Excellent nearby dining options
While only a basic breakfast, which wasn't highly rated, is available on-site, guests mentioned that they were spoiled for choice when it came to dining options nearby. The surrounding streets were said to contain something for nearly every budget and taste.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Bit of a noisy environment
While not many brought it up, a few did say that they had a bit of a problem with external noise, especially at night. The building was said to be older and the rooms not really well soundproofed. As a result, noise of the cars passing by on the busy road outside did cause disturbed sleep for some.
negative:
Parking is a bit tight
While guests conceded that it was free, many said the parking was very tight, resulting in some awkward maneuvers to get into and out of their parking bay, especially for those driving SUV's.
negative:
Might need some updating
Though not mentioned often, a couple of guests felt that the décor could do with a bit of an update, so as to keep things fresh and relevant.
