In response to the booming mining population during the early 20th century the hotel was constructed in 1901 as the original Teller County Hospital. The hospital and surrounding property was refurbished as the Cripple Creek Hospitality House and Travel Park in the mid 1960s. The hotel is a historic property and contributes to the Cripple Creek national historic status listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel is open yearround and is outfitted with tasteful Victorian furnishings and decor. The hotel boasts unique charm with each guest room bearing the name and purpose of how it may have been used as part of the hospital back in the early 1900s.
