In 1993 a marine sanctuary for whales and dolphins has been created off the Ligurian coast with the aim to protect the marine mammals living in the north-western Mediterranean Sea. Visitors have the chance to take a whale watching boats trip to the sanctuary and experience an encounter with the sea mammals. Tours start at the old harbour and last for about 5 hours, every tour is accompanied by a marine biologist. Please note that reservations are required.
