    Wingham Wildlife Park is a zoo near Wingham in Kent. It opened in the mid 1980s as a bird park but has since extended its range of species to become a fully-fledged zoo. Its 13 acres house 180 species. There is a large Tropical House and a recently refurbished Reptile House, home to the rare Gray’s Monitor. On one of the lakes in the park a Lemur Island has been created with the water acting as a natural barrier. The zoo actively promotes encounters with the animals as far as it can and visitors can feed many species of free roaming birds such as peacocks, ducks and geese as well as handle some reptiles and walk through enclosures of deer, wallabies and prairie dogs. The Park also offers pre-booked Experiences with specific animals which includes access to the enclosure and feeding them. There is car parking, a café, picnic area, children’s playground. All areas are accessible to disabled visitors. The Park is open all year (except 25 and 26 December) from 10am to dusk in winter and to 6pm in summer.
